The song that I fell in love with last year was ‘Oceans’ by Hillsong. I had heard of the song but it took me forever to get round to listening to it. I remember when I first heard it after it came up on my YouTube suggestions. It’s just one of those songs. When it hits you, it hits you. It is the type of song that every Christian can relate to. We might all be at different stages of our walk, but this song is really for everyone.
One thing that I realised is that I should have been careful when singing that song. I was replaying it, listening to covers, buying the studio and acoustic version, just listening and constantly singing the song. It wasn’t until the beginning of this year, when I found myself out on the waters and really having to trust Him. I had to learn from Peter. Instead of looking down and trying to understand how God was going to keep me up, I just had to trust Him. I had to trust and believe that wherever I was going to end up, I would be safe.
At times, it is as if I would rather die in the boat instead of trusting God to bring me across the ocean. At least in the boat I would know what would happen to me. But when you are walking on the waters, surrounded by high waves, putting your complete faith in Christ to bring you through, you are powerless. You are totally dependent on Him. As I write this, I am still walking on the waters, I don’t know when I am going to reach my destination but I know that I am closer to it, since I decided to take that step of faith and leave the boat.
If you can relate to this post, all I can say is that you should completely trust in God. He is more than able to bring you across. Don’t turn back. You might have people around you telling you to get back in to the boat, but what is in front of you is so much greater than what you are leaving behind. Worship Christ through your faith in Him and He will definitely bring you through.
